Paved Cycling Magazine, Magazine Design Project
for Intro. to Digital Design II, Fall 2015

You are the creative director of a magazine! You may pick an existing magazine or create a new, fictional magazine. The goal is to create a creative (out of the box) magazine cover, table of content page, and one spread for a story or article.

You will be using Photoshop, Illustrator, and inDesign. All photo work will be done in Photoshop, all illustrative work should be created in Illustrator, and all layout, text, and placement will be matured in inDesign.

For my project, I chose to recreate a now defunct cycling magazine called Paved. Although I stayed close to the original brand for the typeface on the cover, all remaining aspects of the magazine project were redesigned/different from the original magazine. I made a concerted effort to include as many large photos as possible with a focus on landscape. One of the most beautiful aspects of cycling is how you experience the landscape around you and I wanted that idea to translate to the pages of this project.

All photos used are mine, taken from a cycling trip with friends in West Texas in September 2012, in and around the Ft. Davis, Apline, and Marfa areas.
